A novel approach was successfully developed for the synthesis of ortho-carborane [1,2-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane(12)] by reaction of 1-(isopropyl benzoate)-1,2-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane with KOH in methanol at 20 °C.
