In this study, four novel amino-functionalized ionic liquids, 1-(2-aminoethyl)-1-methylpiperazin-1-ium amino acid salts ([AEMP][A], wherein [A]− = [Gly]−, [Ala]−, [Pro]−, [Leu]−), have been synthesized and characterized, and their physicochemical properties, such as glass transition and thermal decomposition temperatures, were determined. These amino-functionalized ionic liquids, dissolved in solution or supported on SiO2, were applied for carbon dioxide absorption. The results showed that the absorption rate is faster when ionic liquid is supported on silica gel than dissolved in the solution. The absorption capacity reached about 1.5 mol carbon dioxide per mol ionic liquid at ambient pressure, as verified by nuclear magnetic resonance and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Moreover, the amino-functionalized ionic liquid can be recycled under vacuum.

Binding behaviors of cucurbit[6]uril (CB[6]) and cucurbit[7]uril (CB[7]) with a series of bis-pyridinium compounds N, N’-hexamethylenebis(1-alkyl-4-carbamoyl pyridinium bromide) (HBPB-n) (alkyl chain length, n = 6, 8 and 10) guests were investigated using 1H-NMR, ESI–MS and single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The results show that CB[6] and CB[7] can form [2]pseudorotaxanes with HBPB-n easily. When increasing the length of tail alkyl chain, the binding site of CB[6] at guest molecules changed from the tail to the middle part, while CB[7] remained located over the tail chain. As CB[6] and CB[7] were added in HBPB-8 aqueous solution, a [3]pseudorotaxane was formed by the inclusion of the internal middle site in CB[6] and the tail chain in CB[7].

Abstract
A pseudorotaxane of cucurbit[6]uril (CB[6]) with guest molecule N,N′-hexamethylenebis (pyrazinyl perchlorate) (BPHP) was synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR spectra, IR, single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The structure of the pseudorotaxane (CB[6]·BPHP) is stabilized by host-guest hydrogen bonds. Self-assembly of the pseudorotaxane produces infinite one-dimensional and two-dimensional networks with intermolecular hydrogen bonds. In the molecular packing of the CB[6]·BPHP, ClO4−(H2O)2 water clusters serve as bridges to associate these pseudorotaxanes and form three-dimensional networked pseudopolyrotaxane.

A series of bis-quaternary ammonium compounds (bis-QACs) N, N′-hexamethylenebis(1-alkyl-4-carbamoyl pyridinium bromide) (4BCAP-6, n) (alkyl chain length, n = 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18) were synthesized and characterized. Their surface tensions, critical micelle concentrations (CMC), and antimicrobial activities were evaluated. 4BCAP-6, 10 exhibited the strongest antimicrobial activities except for that against Proteus vulgari. The activities of 4BCAP-6, n against Escherichia coli zk126 were not significantly influenced by temperature, pH and initial bacteria concentration. These results indicate that bis-QACs exhibit high antimicrobial activity regardless of the environmental conditions.

Abstract
A novel series of morpholinium salts, N-alkyl-N-methylmorpholinium salts (Mor1,nX, n=10, 12, 14, 16, X=BF4−) and Brönsted acidic N-hexadecyl morpholinium salts (Mor16X, X=BF4−, CH3SO3− and p-CH3C6H4SO3−) were synthesized. And their mesomorphic properties were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry and polarized optical microscopy. The single crystal X-ray diffraction and the detailed temperature dependent small angle X-ray diffraction were used to investigate the molecular structure of Mor1,16BF4. These results suggested that the favor the formation and stabilization of mesogenic compounds. And hydrogen bonds between the BF4− and morpholinium cations contributed to the conformational change of phase transition of Mor1,16BF4.

Esterification of alcohols by acetic acid has been carried out at room temperature in a group of Brønsted acidic ionic liquids derived from protophilic amides. Good conversion ratio and excellent reaction rate are obtained, and the liquid esters formed a separate phase that is decanted without containing ionic liquid in it. The possible reason of faster and more efficient esterification is: by stabilizing the protonated acetic acid and limiting the alcohol protonation, protophilic amide ionic liquid (PAIL) accelerates the reaction.Brønsted acidic ionic liquids derived from protophilic amides can be used to catalyze esterification of alcohols by acetic acids under room temperature with Good conversion ratio and excellent reaction rate. An assumption about the possible mechanism is carried out by NMR.
